The Andhra premier league (APL) is the brainchild of Sri P. Sarath Chandra Reddy, President of the Andhra Cricket Association. The main drive for conducting this league is to provide an opportunity for the local Andhra cricketers to showcase their talent on a national visual platform.
The APL is a professional T20 tournament which is being conducted by the Andhra cricket association during the month of June and July.
For the first time in India, a Women’s T20 league is also being conducted simultaneously.
A governing council was formed in the month of April 2022 to conduct the APL, which in the history of Andhra Cricket Association is being held for the first time. The APL will consist of 19 matches from 6th July 2022 to 17th July 2022 at the Dr.YSR ACAVDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.
Six franchisees will take part in this competition for Men. The women’s T20 league is being conducted from 27th June 2022 to 3rd July 2022 and consists of Four teams.
All matches for the men’s league will have live broadcast on Star Sports Telugu and also live OTT streaming. The women’s league will have live YouTube streaming.
The President, Treasurer, CEO and the Governing council members are putting in their best efforts in making this tournament a grand success and the APL will be part of the Andhra Cricket Association cricket calendar for years to come.

Message
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first edition of the Andhra Premier League for the year 2022.
Since the time I took the oath of office as the President of ACA, it was my desire to provide quality opportunities for the existing and aspiring cricketers of this greatstate. I also had the yearning for more of our players to be recognised and be counted to partake in the Indian Premier League, successfully playing for their franchisees; and to fulfil their ultimate goal of representing India on the international stage.
This indeed is not my dream alone but the dream of crores of proud Andhraites. This desire for our players to excel and achieve was the prime motivation in conceiving and initiating the Andhra Premier League.
A small step for man, a giant leap for mankind – said Neil Armstrong and I truly believe that this step of ours will pay rich dividends in providing a unique opportunity for our players to showcase their talent and skill andstrive to reach the highest levels of cricketing possible.
This would not have been possible without the efforts of my entire team and the blessing of BCCI who were as excited as us to initiate the league. The official approvals sought, we now in the final phase of planning to stage this mega event that will redefine sporting culture in Andhra Pradesh.
The foundation of APL, like other leagues is the patronage and support of the franchisees who have come forward in supporting and being a part of the Andhra Premier League and I wish them all the best for the tournament and look forward to their continued support for many more editions to come.
I would also like to thank all the members of the governing council and wish them success in the smooth conduct of the APL.
This tournament would not be possible without the participation of hundreds of talented and aspiring sportsmen and women. To them I say “Carpe Diem” – seize the opportunity and make the best of it. Our wish is to see you at the top – Make us proud!

It gives me immense pleasure and pride to be part of the first edition of the APL for the year 2022. As treasurer of the Andhra Cricket Association, I would like to say that the association will leave no stone unturned in providing the best possible platform for the cricketers of Andhra.

Message
Stating that cricket is the most popular sport of our country is just stating the obvious. Cricket breathes life into the youth of the nation, ignites the passion in them. And for those who no longer participate in the sport, they partake in it as spectators with so much relish and gusto that they have together made India a powerhouse of cricket and a nation whose team has beaten the best in the world routinely.
I am extremely enthused about the APL- Andhra Premier League.
Andhra Pradesh as a state has produced some extremely talented cricketers like MSK Prasad, Y Venugopala Rao, G Hanuma Vihari, KS Bharat.
The APL is sure to unearth talent by providing the youth a wonderful platform to showcase their skill at the game, and thereby contribute many more cricketing stars to the National and International arena who will be proud flag bearers of AP.
Exciting times are ahead for us and I am looking forward to the first of our tournaments. And, pretty soon, we will be making our impact felt on the National arena.
