The 11th match of GMR Andhra Premier League (APL) 2025 between Vijayawada Sun Shiners and Bhimavaram Bulls at the ACA VDCA International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, August 13, ended in no result due to rain. The weather interrupted the first innings, and as a result, the contest was curtailed to 19 overs-per-side. After the completion of Vijayawada Sun Shiners’ innings, the rain played spoilt sport once more, and this time around, the 11th match of the tournament was called off without a ball being bowled in the second innings of the contest.
Earlier, at the toss, Bulls’ captain M Hemanth Reddy emerged victorious against his counterpart K Ashwin Hebbar and opted to field first. Munnangi Abhinav and skipper Hebbar gave a solid start to Vijayawada. Both stitched a 110-run stand together for the opening wicket off just 65 balls. Hebbar lost his wicket while striving to play a massive shot against Satyanarayana Raju.
The Vijayawada skipper went back to the dugout after hammering 63 off 35. After 17 balls, Abhinav also followed his captain to the pavilion. Hemanth got the better of Munnangi, who ended his aggressive knock on 65 off 39. After picking up Abhinav, Hemanth outclassed Mycherla Dheeraj Kumar, who got dismissed on a one-ball duck.
M Vamsi Krishan and KSN Raju departed after accumulating 21 (14) and 19 (12) respectively. GSP Teja and Y Vasu became the hunts of Satyanarayana Raju, who sent them back to the dugout on single-digit scores. In the final few overs of the innings, Zaheer Abbas took Bulls’ bowling attack to the cleaners and collected 25 runs through four boundaries (one four and three sixes) in nine balls.
Sun Shiners, in their 20 overs, posted 204/7 in their 19 overs. Satyanarayana Raju was the best bowler for Bhimavaram as he grabbed 3/26 figures after completing his four-over spell. Hemanth Reddy also took a three-wicket haul after bowling his four overs. M Hari Shankar Reddy splurged 42 runs in his three overs and got one wicket. After the completion of the first innings, rain didn’t give a chance to organisers to conduct the second innings. Eventually, two points were distributed among both sides.
Following the abandoned game of the GMR APL 2025, Bhimavaram Bulls are in the third spot on the points tally with three points in three matches, while Vijayawada Sun Shiners are in the second position with five points in four contests. Bulls next square off against Tungabhadra Warriors on August 15, while Vijayawada’s next clash is against Warriors as well, but it is on August 18.
