GMR APL 2025 final witnesses highest attendance record

The Andhra Premier League (APL) 2025 final between Tungabhadra Warriors and Capital Amaravathi Royals at the ACA-VDA International Cricket Stadium on August 25 registered the record attendance of 16,832 fans, which is the highest in any game of the league. In the final encounter between Tungabhadra and Amaravathi, the former team played a fierce brand of cricket and bagged a convincing five-wicket win. Warriors’ top-order batter Gutta Rohit played an instrumental role with his bat as he hammered 63 off just 28 to simplify the chase of 195 for his team. Rohit’s performance also made him the recipient of the player of the match (POTM) award.

Before the final, Amaravathi beat Tungabhadra twice in the tournament but spectators at the stadium in the final got to witness Warriors’ dominance. In front of the massive crowd, both teams played outstandingly and delivered a stellar level of entertainment to the supporters. During the tournament, 25 matches were played but the final succeeded in attracting a large number of fans.

Captain K Maheep Kumar and Gutta Rohit made vital contributions with their bats to help Royals lift the coveted trophy. Skipper Maheep emerged as the most successful batter for Tungabhadra, notching up 263 runs in eight innings of nine matches. Discussing Rohit’s numbers, he amassed quick 223 runs in seven innings of nine contests at a strike rate of 190.60.

In the bowling department, KV Sasikanth and Cheepurapalli Stephen did phenomenal work for Warriors. Sasikanth ended up as the second-most successful bowler in the competition, grabbing 14 wickets in nine matches. Stephen concluded his campaign in the third spot in the bowling chart. He claimed 13 wickets in nine contests. In the final, Sasikanth was the most effective bowler for Tungabhadra. The pacer bagged three wickets in his four overs. Left-arm speedster Stephen also recorded 2/43 figures in his four-over spell.
